Web4Radio - A free player that works on almost all devices

Post by RadioThermo »

Hi all,

I created a player for my station. After so much interest was generated during testing, I released it as an open-source project.

Web4Radio is a web-based player for Icecast and SHOUTcast streams that works in almost any browser, including those in mobile devices. It uses jPlayer to provide playback via Adobe Flash and HTML5 technologies. The goal is to allow broadcasters to reach as many listeners across platforms and devices as possible, without much technical effort. Anyone may use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the software, under the terms of the MIT license.

Your listeners can start listening to your stream directly from your website, using their smartphone, tablet, or computer! Downloads, documentation, and a demo can be found at:

Setup requires minimal coding skills. If something in the documentation isn't clear, let me know, and I'll try to improve it.

The player is currently in the beta stage; meaning that it works, but some features still need to be added. See the issue tracker for a full list.

If you would like to help with development and/or testing of new features, please reply to an issue.
