Run as service in CentOS VPS

Steamcast is a stand alone server that combines the features of SHOUTcast and Icecast2 and more to make one mega awesome server.

Run as service in CentOS VPS

Post by bill »

I have been running Steamcast for sometime now on Windows as service . No downtime unless I reboot etc. I feel like I am at a point to take the radio a step forward.

I have recently been working with a basic VPS and actually have been able to install CentOS Web Panel. Set up website etc. It actually seems to be doing good. The web panel has a module to control shoutcast, but as much as I like Steamcast I would like to figure out how to get Steamcast to run and automatically restart if for some reason the VPS reboots.

I have looked in the tar.gz of Steamcast for 64 Linux and seems as though it can be just dropped in the right place and in will run in CentOS. What I am asking is if anyone on this forum can point out the best way to get Steamcast up and stay up and running without manual starts if VPS does a random reboot.

Thanks in advance for your help.
